Hello February...

... note to all.... I dislike the way "February" is spelt! Just doesn't jive with me!

So christmas is over..... the New Year rang in with glee.... resolutions were made and now we have February! You know it well.... everything almost seems to stop in its tracks.... time slows... kids get very moody and the lack of sun...... well I can't even say a lack of sun..... this is insane... truly this weather has thrown me for a loop! To be able to shoot a 1 yr old outside in February... thats just nuts!
But I will take it and LOVE every moment of it!
So it's February... yes I said it again.... I'm aiming to use the word as often as I can to develop a like for this month! For all us photogs out there it's a time to gear up for the new year ahead of us.... meetings, consults, sessions, albums and of course WPPI for many.... including myself! We take on seminars, workshops and do all we can to better ourself for our craft! There may be some fun and partying in between but really it's about ummm hmmm.... ok I don't want to fib.... so let's just leave it at that! ;)
I'm excited to go and meet a ton new friends and to enjoy all this convention has to offer.....

Bring it WPPI .... I'm ready!

Recently I have had the pleasure to complete some sessions..... Boudoirs which you can find here...... children and a fabulous maternity shoot! And yes it is very interesting!
A couple days ago I had someone ask me if I get nervous before any particular shoot...... my very open honest answer that I probably shouldn't admit.... but I will- YES ... ALL THE TIME.... before every session! Yes every session.... every day... and ya know I think I should be nervous..... definitely keeps me on my toes... pushes me to try new things....... and it keeps me very grounded..... yes I have been known to float around in the clouds every so often! ;) But those nerves subside but not before I get a huge adrenaline rush......... lol nope don't need to jump out of planes.... just sit a baby, bride, decked out business man in front of me and it's no different then driving in the indy.... for me that is!

So here is a couple sneak peeks from two sessions....... thank you to both families.... you all were so great and I appreciate the opportunity to capture you all!!!

Christmas & Family!!!

So as I sit here to type out this latest blog post... I am reminiscent of all the Christmases before..... all the traditions.... and best of all time with family and good friends! From tree hunting, cookie baking, photos and of course movie night.... to carolling, dancing and just plain being silly! I love it all.... every moment, every trip to a packed mall....... every crease of the wrapping paper..... nothing beats this time of year for me! And every year we either get carried away with presents and time completely escapes us or ...we take the time... time to see those we love.... share in laughter and good times........ and when anyone asks what I would like most of all....... it truly is just a few moments of their time.... probably the most costly gift you can give... but the most meaningful!

As Christmas Eve approaches it is time for me to sign off for a wee bit.... taking a much needed holiday from work and spending it with my family and friends! To everyone of you...... Happy Holidays... may this be your best year yet!!!

Now for a sneak peek at a family who has embraced this meaning of time and shared it with their entire family...... 19 to be precise! When I received an email from Michelle I was more than happy to be available.... they were all getting together for the Holidays and wanted some photos to remember it all by! When you are able to get everyone together such as this.... it's best to have a camera kicking around! ;)
I had previously shot Michelle's family in the fall.... and had a wonderful time with them! Now I had the opportunity to meet her 3 brothers and their families........ YOU ALL were simply beautiful and fabulous not to mention incredibly kind!! Thank you for inviting me into your home!!

Way Back......

Back in November.... lol I can say that now because it's fabulous December.... I love December... I love snow.... christmas and everything about the holiday season! I'm not at all prepared ..... BUT I'm still singing my songs and enjoying every day! Happy Holidays everyone..... be happy and stay safe!

.... back to this blog...... back in November I had the privilege to be a part of Katy & Parker's wedding..... this fabulous couple had it all planned out and let me just say I loved it..... every part!! Toronto was the setting for this wicked event.... complete with a suite at the Gladstone Hotel..... this is where the reception was held as well..... The roof top of City Hall and Osgoode Hall were our backdrops for photos..... love love love..... I'm by no means a city girl... but I sooo appreciate it's beauty and everything it has to offer! So as with all weddings there is always a blooper... blunder.... something always happens! Usually I am the one that tries to come to the rescue and often do with my kit of tricks or just by simply talking and calming nerves....... Unfortunately I had to be rescued this round.... I laugh about it now but felt so very horrible for it happening! Ya see Toronto City Hall has private elevators for the ceremonies.... well I jumped in pressed the button and went up.... wait hold on ok I'm going back down... what the heck... press again... go back up..... doors don't open and down I go again... what the BLEEP... I rode up and down about 6x.... and now I am late... LATE OMG I'M LATE.. extreme panic sets in.... and then Parker came to the rescue.... but still..... I've never been late ever..... my apologies again K&P..... ahh good ol' trusty elevators.... jk nothing wrong with it... it just decided it didn't want me there.

We laughed and I mean laughed most of the day..... had fun and enjoyed the beauty that surrounded us..... the couple went for a siesta and I took a break too..... then it was back for the reception... complete with a fabulous band and a whole lotta dancing!!!!! And check it out... the groom played the harmonica!!! Katy was perfect in both beautiful dresses...... and sweeeeeet coral shoes not to mention so lovely in every way!!! You are a wonderful couple and it was a pleasure to be a part of your day!!! Thank you!

.... as you know I was out shooting Sunday..... this was another family I had the privlidge of spending some time with........ the kids were all great fun..... and you all looked fabulous!!!

Gotta love when a big family all comes together for pics..... so nice to see and to have!

I must admit I don't come across these too often.... but so glad when I do...... and this is something I should really do myself....... take the lack of time out of the equation and organize something ;)

... tell me this past Sunday was enjoyed by everyone...... the weather PERFECT...... I was soooo glad to capture some families yesterday!!

It was a great day with many great kids.... and parents too!!! But ya know the kids always steal the show! I love how their nerves set in and they giggle.... it's way too cute.... with all kids... just chat away to them and they completely ease up... or for the younger ones... PLAY and make a game of it!

I had the pleasure to head out with the "A" family ..... they were so great and up for anything...... the kids were fun and very funny.... "mall cop" LOL.... the oldest of the three told me he doesn't smile..... I thought to myself- how interesting and we talked about it... I did say I would get a smile out of him.... but I got full out laughs instead..... kids laughter is soooo contagious ..... you really can't help but laugh with them! Needless to say..... you were all so great and I had a fabulous time with you all...... Thank you for being so great N,K & A!!!!!

Cool Crisp Wedding...

Yes you are getting two blog instalments today..... it's been a busy time and I want to share as much as I can.... wish I could share everything..... but alas I would not be able to keep up..... however as the season starts to slow down I will post more just so I can keep in touch with everyone as I take my winter holidays!

Now I present Christina & Tim........
hey you two....
Met this fabulous couple and had the greatest time with them at their engagement session and their wedding....... always cool, calm and collected..... funny and fun! Their day may not have had the best weather but that means nothing...... it was a beautiful outdoor ceremony complete with fall decor ...... the reception was just gorgeous with so much attention to detail..... props to you guys for carrying out your vision so perfectly....... I do know it's a lot of work! Christina was gorgeous and elegant in her gown complete with "barbie" pink shoes..... LOVED these shoes! Everything was just so perfectly put together ... and this couple scoped out a great location for pics..... love it!!!!! I get truly excited when my couples let me run free...... lol ... they gave me a barn a field and a schweeeeeet bike.... come on ya know a girl is in heaven with that!!!

Chill In The Air...

So here we are ..... another day, another season.... hats and mittens.... scarves and down filled coats..... love this time of year for all the colours..... crisp air and the hint of frost.... which lets us know winter is just about here! Family sessions are in abundance and christmas sessions are just around the corner..........

It's been quite busy and I have appreciated everyones patience......

This past weekend I had the pleasure to shoot a fab family at their home..... luv me some new surroundings! The weather was not in our favour.... but it didn't hinder smiles or some fun! I loved that these girls were prepared and came decked out in great hats and scarves..... gotta luv the colors.. it all just worked too perfectly. Thank you everyone for a great session.... hope you enjoy your photos as much as I enjoyed taking them!

must take note.... most people don't realize when I do family sessions, I also take shots of everyone individually...... it's nice to have photos of just yourself.... or at least I think so!

3 is heaven...

Being a mom of three is challenging to say the least.... this I know to be true because I have tree too!!!
It's tough to juggle all the things that go on day to day.... keeping up with extracircular activities, homework and everything in between........ BUT I wouldn't trade it for anything...... just give me a little down time and I'm good to go again for another week!
Everything is always rushed... go go go... we so often get caught up with our lives... it's never intentional... it just happens. Whether a friend didn't get a returned call or my kid went without a haircut... never good I know.... but it happens...... and those who know you won't judge and will let it slide..... those who don't get upset. Yes I am going somewhere with this.... it's been really busy this season..... and I am trying to fit everything and everyone in, but it's just not happening.... I have had to make some decisions and change things around this past week! So to all the parents out there trying to keep up with everything..... please stop, take a moment and truly give yourself a break! We all need it......

With this said...... I will no longer be delivering cd's or albums and I will no longer be mailing cd's or albums..... everything must be picked up! I really wish I could keep up with the mailing.... but too many times than I can count someone has not received their items or it's been delayed ect ect...... picking up your order will ensure you receive it!!!

Now on to our next lot of sessions!!!!

I had the pleasure to photograph three fabulous little girls this past weekend....... they were too fun!! Loved the smiles and giggles...... poses and silliness!!! Kids always crack me up.... make me smile... and they all say the darndest things! But regardless of anything..... I truly love to capture them in all their busy glory! Every emotion from a child is genuine and true.... untainted and pure..... can't fake it or pretend....... and this is what I am after in every session...... not the poses and forced smiles .... I want the surprised expression... the eyes lost in thought..... the interest in something in the distance..... yes I want it all.... and then I want more..... lol! These girls did it.... gave me everything and then some..... I realize there are quite a few pics below but I had to share...... because kids will be kids...... and I wouldn't want to do this job any other way!!!

birthday shout out & more kids to share!

Going to give a little shout out to my baby girl .... who turns 7 today..... wow how time escapes me!
At 7 years old this little gem of mine packs quite the impact on a person...... she is a mini me I gotta say... but I love all her little habits, quirks and loving personality! She is so very funny.... has a brooklyn accent, yes thats right an accent.... I hope she never out grows it but I know she will. She has taught me that I am never too old to laugh at the sillyness!!!!!..... She embraces and loves every living creature..... cries during a sad moment in a movie.... especially one episode of Hannah Montana where her horse is sick and they think Blue Jeans will die.... oh my... that was so sad to see her so upset. BTW- she LOVES and I mean LOVES horses...... and yes I am waiting for the day when she asks for her very own. And last but not nearly least of all....... she LOVES with everything she has.......... Happy Birthday beautiful!!!! xo

So as of late I have been shooting a lot of kids..... as I am sure you can tell. I don't always get to share all of them.... not everyone wants pics of their children online.... totally understandable. But when I am allowed to share.... I share all I can! I love to work with kids.... they are so fun and spontaneous.... anything goes with them! Some will totally take direction and some will do their own thing..... I am good with either!

I've talked previously how parents get stressed during sessions...... but I have not talked about what they teach me................... to smile, to laugh, to be silly and best of all .... to not to think about anything else other than what is happening at that moment.

Photo's In The Park...

This Fall I decided to do "Photos In The Park"....... I was so pleased and flattered with the overwhelming response. Yesterday was a fully booked day...... unfortunately mid afternoon we were rained out and had to pack it in! Not all is lost...... those last sessions are being rescheduled... and the ones that had the best of the weather went great!!!! Loads of smiles.... and some little posers too...... below is a lil' sneak peek into a couple sessions!

Wee Ones....

It seems a lot of babies are being born......... I know babies are born everyday.... but quite a few have been coming my way.... so sweet and I feel so privileged to capture them in their first few days!

For me... and I know this is not for all photographers.... but not all my babies sleep..... I always make the room nice and cozy warm.... cozy warm for them = me sweating profusely ...... and that's how it should be! But for whatever reason they don't all sleep.... I don't mind but it is nice to have one sleeping every now and then!

I'd also like to note that I generally take care of your little bundle the whole session..... you get to take a break and relax even if they are crying..... I have always found it's best to not go back and forth with the baby and just allow them a little time to get to know me and the atmosphere..... But if hunger strikes.... yes they are all yours!

This little one was too precious.... she came in sleeping and was in and out of sleep for our session! She did a fantabulous job and I enjoyed spending time with her and her brothers!

Fall Is Here...

Yes it is Thanksgiving.... and I have a blog to share with you!
The turkey is in the oven..... since very early this morning.... may need a nap!
I would like to take a moment to let all my family and friends know how truly grateful I am for you all.... your all a blessing in my life! AND- HAPPY THANKSGIVING too everyone!!!

I snuck out for a quick session with a friend and my most fav little men..... I love that I have captured these boys a few times.... and I am so grateful to have known them this long and to have the privlidge to continue to watch them grow........
I can't express it enough to everyone the importance of having photos with your kids...... as a parent who rarely did this in the past... I can tell you I completely regret it! So please find a photographer you love, a friend or do it yourselves.... BUT please have photos with your children.... they are priceless keepsakes!

ok enough of the mushy stuff!
So often people ask or tell me how difficult their children are during a session.... some prepare me via email.... some parents are truly frustrated during a session because they feel their child isn't listening....... I gotta say...... BREATHE... I know these boys personally.....so they felt completely comfortable being their goofy selves around me (but then again most kids do)... and I ALWAYS laugh.... they are kids.... this is them in all their perfect happy glory, lets not mess with it.....
So this mom in particular said to me as we were leaving... "you got what maybe 5 good shots?" (sorry selling ya out here a bit Shell, bare with me)....... and this is a comment I hear ALL the time..... it's never the case.... have a little faith in me and your fabulous munchkins, and everyone please take a deep breath and let kids be kids!...... I promise you won't regret it!

Here we are again.... another day ... another blog.... So I will take a different approach today.... let me ask you all something-
What would you like to know?... hear about? ... I am an open book.... would love to know your thoughts, questions, stories.... anything goes! You can leave a comment below, or on FB or send an email!
Often my FB inbox is full of questions... I usually just answer them to the person directly, but thought maybe we can try it this way.... knowledge is power after all!!

I've been quite busy lately with sessions and weddings..... albums and orders. All the photographers know this all to well.... everything seems to flow in at once at least for most of us. And that's ok, but something has to give in order to keep up at times.... so my blog tends to suffer during these chaotic times!
But I eventually make it back and that's when you will get 2 or 3 blogs in a row outta me!
Which brings us here.......
Yesterday.... yup yesterday I headed out to Moffat to shoot a session with Terri & Alex.... who will be wed this November! Now the weather was touch and go.... but we braved the cold and possibility of rain! Had a great time laughing.... Alex is quite the funny guy... I have my latest and greatest material.... falling short on my one liners.... I must say my drought is over! lol

Endless Details...

.... ahh the details of a wedding... there are a ton of details that go into every wedding..... from invitations to flowers to rings and accessories. And every bride stresses about them to some extent........ understandable.. it's one day and you want it to be just right!
We photographers love all the little details..... rings, flowers, accessories..... all fun to shoot! But then you get some weddings where the details are endless and absolutely lovely....... this brings me to this wedding...
Leona & Andrew..... pulled out all the stops.... from custom signs for a games area, smores, star gazing etc etc..... to the red and white straws that accented the glasses of lemonade..... to the strung images of memories.... the mason jars with hydrangeas ..... custom red heart cufflings..... embroidered initials in the grooms jacket.... and the chalk board menus .... there was not a thing that was not thought of! You both had a beautiful and amazing wedding.... become a planner please Leona!!!
So let's talk about the rest of the wedding.......
I met with Leona at her sisters home..... grabbed some prep shots and chatted with the groom as we walked up the hill to prepare for the "first look".... I SOOOOO wish more couples did this... it's such a beautiful moment just for the two of them! I never interrupt just capture the moment..... and the emotions felt always get me every time..... here comes that pesky sappy lump in my throat!!
After the first look we headed out for pictures.... we went to places they had already scoped out and planned for... Awesome!! I love couples that know what they want and trust me to make it work!!!! Plus it was totally fun ..... gotta love some chickens too.... no the real kind for real!
A gorgeous ceremony and reception followed.... with cocktails... games and a ton of fun...... great food to boot!!!
In the end it was a fabulous wedding with a truly amazing and definitely in love couple.......... wishing you both all the best for years to come! Congratulations Leona & Andrew!!!!

LOVE IT...........

.... so here we are again.... this blog comes to you a few days early .... busy weekend this ahead.... and I hope everyone enjoys this great long weekend.... wish you all fabulous weather and amazing times!!! I am "working" this weekend.... not really work when I love it so much....... s'all good!!!

Leona & Andrews wedding tomorrow.... and another wedding Sunday which I am second shooting....... so lets touch here today........ second shooting-

I LOVE second shooting....... LOVE IT...... people ask me all the time why I do it..... in a nut shell I will say it again I LOVE IT! why???- it's simple.... I love the creative freedom.... the time to spend with another photographer and learn...... the interaction with them and collaboration of new ideas...... of course there is still pressure... which I totally feed off of .. love me some good old fashioned pressure! BUT- as a second sure you need to get the shots... you need to do your job..... but the majority of the stress lays on the main shooters shoulders..... lol awful to say I know... and believe me I don not slack when I second.... but there is a little more breathing room so to speak!

Some may agree and some may not..... regardless I love it all the same! So I do try to get out now 3 x a year and work under someone else....... great way to regenerate... spice it up and enjoy a different perspective!

And now I bring you my fab couple Amanda & Brian...... I had the opportunity to meet Amanda before our session..... how can you miss her gorgeous smile..... ;) and we chatted about wedding details..... love me some great wedding details!

I met Brian on this day of their engagement session....... and we took up temporary residence in Toronto for a couple hours.... I love when my new found friends take me to places I have never been.... this was a special place for them... it is where Brian proposed... awwwww love it!!! (i wonder how many more times I can fit "love it" into this blog)

We were on a very short timeline as they were moving away the next day...... I am sure they will be greatly missed over the next year ....... and until we meet again for your wedding...... have a fabulous time and a wicked adventure together!!!

.... who says you can't do photos again after the wedding?????

Had the pleasure to get an email from a fabulous couple requesting photos to celebrate their 5 yr anniversary..... let me tell you I was thrilled! Too often people don't take the time or don't think to do this! What a wonderful way to celebrate to go out and capture your love 5 years later....
But you don't have to wait for the magic 5 yr mark... what about 1 yr or 2 or 3..... regardless of the number... do it! This isn't a plug for myself.... although you can use me ;)...... this is me asking you to take the time... hire anyone.... but do it! This also comes on the heels of a great blog I read about people and families taking the time to capture memories.... we are all always sooo busy and put things off and say the ever famous "later"..... make a point to not say this anymore.....

...... ahh sweet inspiration.... whats your take- do we find it? or does it find us? If we had to sit down and pin point the moment we felt inspired... where were you? what did you feel?..... was it a place, person, thought, story or idea that made you think and realize something of your own!

So I was sitting here thinking of what I could write today..... so many things have happened this week that really the sky was the limit with this blog.

But I had a friend say something interesting to me "write about the overuse and misunderstood word "inspiration" and what it means to me. Of course my sarcastic reply was "heavy topic"lol. But I gotta say a good point was being made. However I am not sure that "inspiration" can be overused....... heres my thoughts- I am often caught saying to those closest to me.. mainly because they are the only ones I trust with my vulnerable thoughts... "I have to change it up- I need to be inspired"... let me say I am through with this line..... too often I think we wait for inspiration to come to us instead of embracing everything around us and finding it for ourselves! And by finding it I mean just opening our eyes, our minds and listening to everything around us! I believe there are levels of inspiration... which brings me back to the point of overuse.... we may feel that it is overused for the pure emotion associated with true inspiration... ya know the ones that lead us from one great idea to another, where we feel excited and motivated. ... suddenly everything almost magically ties together!

As a photographer we are continually inspired by everyone we meet... shoot... locations....ect .... we need to be... and there fore we look for it... or at least I do. I think the reason why I used that line was.... I was waiting... waiting for that BIG blast through the clouds... fireworks... something HUGE... just one GRAND inspiration to carry me through! But who says it has to come in that form and come so grand?! Only we say it does.... it doesn't..... I am constantly inspired daily by those around me... their thoughts, actions... by clients and there stories... kids and their candid responses or questions to everyday life. So as much as I have always said it.... this is the first time I have sat down and really thought it through.... I don't need to wait for my grand inspiration to fall from the clouds.... I need to see whats right in front of me..... and so I will! Stop waiting.... and just See!

Thank you for the idea for this blog...... you are a continual inspiration!

Last night I headed out to meet a fav little client of mine.... Mr.B!!! .... I have taken his pics a few times now... and every time is great! He is the cutest little ham!
I was thrilled that his mom wanted to do a beach session....... it's so fun and totally entertaining for the kids.... yes they will get very wet and dirty.... but this is who kids are I love to be able to capture these moments when they are just doing their thing!.... and it's way less stressful for them... they just enjoy everything around them!
Kids are awesome...... you never know what will happen.... and it's in those moments that the best photos happen!!!

sweet mini's

Over the summer I decided to do some childrens mini sessions in the park....... it was great and I had fun shooting all the precious little faces! I wanted to offer something that would give parents fab photos to show off without breaking the bank..... this was it... and it also allowed people to test drive me so to speak.... photography is such an investment and everyone has a hard time deciding who to hire.... a mini session like this can help you decide!
So it was mini childrens sessions in Lowville Park.... great place to shoot.. ton's to work with!!
This fall I have decided to offer the same thing..... dates have yet to be determined... but it will be outdoors... (kids love the outdoors and love exploring... ) it will be fun.... and it will only be for 2 days!!!

In The midst of Silence!

..... so here is another blog instalment..... usually something sparks my thoughts and I have something to say.... looks like I am falling short today.... it could be because I am a little behind with my blogs... sometimes it does not cooperate and won't publish when I need or want it to. Or it could be the curve balls thrown as of late...... or maybe I need to learn to be quiet..... hmmmmm shall we ponder this for a moment....... yes let's..... everyone please close your eyes for a moment..... and listen to utter silence..................................................................................................................................................

2 weeks ago I had the pleasure as I often do to shoot a wedding...... but not just any wedding.... a family that I have known for quite some time..... just over 10 years in fact! This family is the real deal.... full of love and support...... no matter what will happen they always know they have one another! I am speaking of the brides side.... the grooms side I had just met.... but you just know when two families are a great fit!
Now when I shot Ashley & Dan for the first time..... their e-session ... we had a great time down in the beaches. So going into this wedding I knew we would again...... despite the heat ;)
I started out with the groom Dan.... met him at the hotel for a few photos..... ok sorry Dan I gotta throw this in here.... to me it was funny. Before I arrived Dan called me to ask if I could come a little later as his groomsmen had not yet arrived........ LOL ... ok not laughing at the fact that the men are not there but at the call.... to ask me to come a little later... on the wedding day... before the bride.... come later?.... I still have not seen the bride... he's the groom.... come later lol.... ok you get my point! Ok so props to Dan now ... cool, calm and collected..... not a nerve in sight... and he looked great too!!!
Next we have Ashley..... who was getting ready with her family in their home....... you know with a couple this cool.... you know nothing is gonna dampen their mood! Everyone was preping... primping and getting all beautified! You looked gorgeous Ashley... you always do! It was a nice calm scene... with brothers and sister... little ones, and a lot of love!
From there the ceremony took place followed by photos and the reception........ please lets not forget the awards.... it wasn't the traditional introduction to speeches.... they had an awards ceremony..... with nominees and the winners would say their speech... lol I loved it... it was fun and unique!!!
All in all it was a great day with a fabulous couple.......... and now for the long awaited sneak peek......

..... I apologize for the delay.... couldn't get this blog to publish last night!

... so it's that time of year where the engagement sessions are in abundance...... sometimes I shoot at the same places.... and sometimes I am thrown into something new. Gotta love when that happens... new scene always gets the inspiration flowing! It's funny and I totally admit this.... I never have a formal plan when I go out to shoot an engagement session...... this I feel is my opportunity to get to know each couple and to make a great connection.... this ensures we will have a blast the day of their wedding.
I recently had a wedding consult where they had mentioned they had read the brief write up on my site about myself.... I had to laugh as I really didn't think anyone read it before. But if you know me you know that what it says couldn't be more true... and since I wrote it myself.... well you know it's quite candid! Ya went off the rail there.... as I tend to do! Just thought it was kinda cool to hear feedback about something other than my work.

So here it is.... Leona & Andrew...... I met this fabulous bride last year at a wedding she was a brides maid in...... she was stunning then and again now. This FAB.... really cool couple is a blast to work with! When I showed up for their session.... new place chosen by Leona... I was stoked.... so much to work with and these two looked so chic! Really I could have jumped up and down... buuuuut thought it might be overkill! Instead I raved... took lot's of photos!
Thanks so much guys for giving me so much to work with.... it's been awesome getting to know you both..... so looking forward to your September wedding!!!!!

So once again... we take a turn in direction....you may remember a similar post last year!
I enjoy my job... love all the days as they are always changing. There is so much variety in what I do it forces me to stay on my toes!
The best part I have to admit is when I get a chance to work with friends.... I love to share their photos... successes and lives with everyone! So once again I have the pleasure to share with you all the following book....... I admire writers..... I am so not capable of writing a book.... putting words together so that others can understand, learn and be satisfied with what they have just spent time and energy into reading. It truly is those gifted people that can do this well and always leave us wanting more.... or walking away feeling we have learned something new! All you writers out there.... please continue.... never quit.... were always waiting for your next great collaboration of words!

So here goes...... oh my lord the ego strokes I dish out! lol - really will I ever learn?!

.... the talent is endless when it comes to a friend of mine (the ego will soar...ugh)...... last year I took it upon myself to take photos and write a blog about a book he had written "Workplace One". This year to my delight I was asked to shoot the second instalment "CoCreate" written by him once again, as well as the promotional material that would be used for the book tour.
A big shout out to Steve Delfino...... not only for a great read... kid you not.... very interesting... I like the mix and examples so that anyone can relate and understand a book that is written for this industry. A couple fav quotes of mine from the book..... because really it relates to everyone..... "Creativity is one part inspiration and many parts collaboration" (see pic below)! ... & .. "Creativity in it's purest form is about sharing"....There is nothing more true..... and yes while it is written for Teknion..... much of the examples and tidbits of wisdom apply to our everyday lives.

We can all learn from others....... collaborate... problem solve.... create!

Puppy Love......

Oh yes we did..... we got ourselves a new puppy...... meet Abby!
So with every new puppy comes.... excited children... little accidents.... teething... biting.... licks...... really horrifying gas..... a now frequently watched show Puppy S.O.S...... cuddles... walks... and a ton of love!
And now comes the personality...... oh how quickly this kicks in.......... Abby is a Boxer...... she is very loving and happy..... always full of kisses and cuddles....... now meet the other side of Abby.... stubborn..... vengeful and down right goofy! Love my girl... but a photo shoot at 14 weeks..... oh lord!
I will say... don't even try to come near her ma ma..... she is very protective!

..... here we are back again in the middle of e-sessions..........

Love all my couples... especially the ones who are so full of life and laughter...... I had the pleasure to shoot Karen and Dave down in Toronto. We had a great time and I enjoyed every second! I love when you can get to know couples on this level... where they are just themselves...

So as this couple knows.... and most do during our consultation.... I am a stickler on engagement sessions.... it's included in my package for one reason- so that we can get to know each other..... I have shot weddings cold on occasion... but i so much prefer this time to get connected with my bride and groom. There is a bond and trust that develops over this time together..... and it makes a huge difference!

I think we sometimes take our ability to do this for granted... these images we capture are forever..... when my clients look back on their photos I want them to be able to relive those moments!

So here it is a great fun session!

Sun & Sand!!!!!

........ It's June and with June comes lot's of engagement sessions...... not sure why June... but regardless I Love to shoot them! I met with this fabulous couple last year when they began to plan their wedding... bonus... I know the bride ;) ..... so luckily they liked my work and now I have the pleasure to shoot their wedding in July.
As with all my engagement sessions they chose their location.... The Beaches in Toronto.... I actually have never done a session here... so of course new location I was stoked! Beautiful day.... great lighting and a fun couple. There were some nerves and they were not sure what to expect... but by the end I was glad to hear they thought it was easy! Perfect..... hate for anyone to feel stressed during a session with me.

.... laughter cures all!!!

.... as in stated above "laughter cures all"...... really couldn't be more true. We all have good days and bad days...... it's all in how you handle what comes your way that truly counts. Sometimes we are delt more than we can handle at the time..... in which case you lean on those closest to you... and the ones who know you well..... will switch gears and throw some serious laughter your way! Thank goodness for those special few! Just wanted to touch on that.... as it seems at times the "bad' overshadows the good..... don't let it... do your best to shake it off and if you feel you can't quite do it on your own... know this- only you have the power to make YOU happy..... everyone else around you helps with your mission but it's up to you to achieve it!

So as this story goes.... and keeping with the laughter topic...... here is Melissa & Andrew- fab couple... cuz all my couples are absolutely FAB! No worries Melissa... nothing bad to say here about your wedding.... I think it's so funny when people have a touch of concern on their wedding day about what I may write! It's that split second moment where they think and then comment about what the blog may say!
I LOVE a fun wedding party..... and this wedding party was NOT short on fun at all!!! They were a blast..... as were the bride and groom! I enjoy watching and documenting people having fun- there are no greater shots!
The day started at the grooms house..... there awaited Andrew.... sorry dude I am going down this road lol- a cool calm collected groom without socks and a belt.... ok I come across a lot of grooms not quite ready but the socks and belt thats a new one for me.... sorry Andrew I thought the minor hiccup in your day to be a little bit funny! After hanging with the oh so entertaining boys...... I headed off to see Melissa....... she was in the very state I wanted to find all my brides..... mid-make-up... perfect! Hung with the girls did all the small detail shots and buckled some sweet shoes..... loved the shoes ladies! Then it was photos photos photos... and off to the ceremony! I will fully admit I almost fell in the fountain in the church... thank you to the kind friend of the bride for stopping me before I did... lol I swear only I would forget it was behind me.... accident averted!
We ended up at Adamson Estates for photos......... lol too much fun and way too many photos to share..... I will say my stomach hurt the next day from all the laughing.
After photos we then went to the reception of course..... beautiful venue...... great meal...... and to top off the night------- SAMBA dancers.... awesome!!!!
So some tears were shed during speeches as they always are..... and forever moments and memories made.... thank you Melissa & Andrew for having me a part of your day!!!! Cheers!
